Lounge chair and ottoman by Eames for Vitra
Lounge chair and ottoman by Eames for Vitra
This lounge chair and ottoman are designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956 for Herman Miller. Later, Vitra began producing this chair for the European Market. This one is made by Vitra in 1983 as mentionned on the different labels.
The shells are in black lacquered plywood in combination with “nero” black leather. This complete black version is not in production anymore.
It is in very good vintage condition, there are some craquellures on the right arm-rest.
Charles Eames’ declared aim for the Lounge Chair was to combine the utmost comfort with high-end materials and high-quality finishing. And just as important, the chair should resemble a soft, well-used baseball glove, inviting the user to sink back into it.
