Bird Chair with Ottoman by H. Bertoia for Knoll Int./ De Coene
Bird Chair with Ottoman by H. Bertoia for Knoll Int./ De Coene
This Bird chair with ottoman was designed by Harry Bertoia for Knoll International and manufactured by De Coene in Belgium in the 1950s.
It was Charles Eames who motivated the sculptor Harry Bertoia to design a chair, the result was a set of different wire chairs produced by Knoll International.
Bertoia turned industrial wire rods into a design icon: transparent and comfortable.
This chrome plated set is in very good authentic condition, with normal signs of age and use. This Bird chair and ottoman are authentic from the 1950s, produced by the Coene.
This chair is the purest version you can get. Since it is an early production there are no shock mounts, the wire rods are thinner and that makes it more beautiful.
