Abstract Cube Sculptures by Jef Mouton
Abstract Cube Sculptures by Jef Mouton
These abstract cube sculptures are created by the Belgian sculptor Jef Mouton (°1952).
The sculptures are made of Belgian bluestone.
‘Bluestone has been my favorite material for more than thirty years. I would dare say that I not only work but even think in stone, stone has become my language.
The specific features continue to fascinate me and always require me to engage in a deeper dialogue. This stone has a blue-gray color with an almost countless number of shades. Each operation gives its own gray: the traces of the chisel, the saw cut, the injury of a fracture surface, sanding, sweetening or polishing …
Bluestone is a fairly hard limestone. It is weather resistant but weathered and patinated beautifully when placed outdoors. This has a special meaning for me: nature gives me a material, I get the chance to do something with it, when this intervention is ready to return everything to nature and the sculpture starts to lead its own life.’ Jef Mouton
The sculptures can be delivered with the black wooden pedestals (25 x 25 x 95 cm).
