Pair of Uchiwa Wall Sconces by Ingo Maurer
Pair of Uchiwa Wall Sconces by Ingo Maurer
The Uchiwa lamp was designed by Ingo Maurer for Design M.
From the start, Maurer’s interest in paper for lampshades was linked with his interest in Japan. From 1973 to 1975, he produced various lamps inspired by traditional Japanese fans handcrafted from paper and bamboo, called Uchiwa in Japanese.
It was the first time that an “objet trouvé” inspired his design of a lamp and was subsequently integrated into his work.
This pair of Uchiwa wall lamps are in very good condition and have a nice patina. One lamp has been restored.
It is a great design that brings nature into your living room.
