Shogun Wall Lamp by Mario Botta
Shogun Wall Lamp by Mario Botta
This sculptural wall lamp Shogun was designed by Mario Botta for Artemide, Italy in 1986.
The postmodern Swiss architect and designer Mario Botta is renowned for his use of striking geometric forms. His Shogun lamp reflects his belief that lighting should create an atmosphere through its use of shadows. He also considers it is important for a light to look good even when it is not switched on.
This Shogun wall lamp with manipulatable metal shades is a great example of this. The perforated shades allow you to alter the positioning of the intricate shadows created on the surrounding walls.
The lamp is made of white lacquered metal. This lamp is an early production of 1986. It is in very good authentic condition. The white is evenly yellowed. The Shogun wall lamp is out of production.
